Irresistibly Creamy No-Bake Walnut Tart — Made in One Bowl

This irresistibly creamy no-bake walnut tart is a dessert that brings comfort and elegance. It blends the tradition of no-bake frozen desserts with the rich flavor of walnuts. The result is sweet, buttery, and slightly toasted, with a pleasant contrast between the soft filling and the crunchy base. It’s a perfect recipe for anyone who wants something elegant without spending hours in the kitchen.

In this version, the base is made with crushed biscuits and butter, creating a firm and golden texture, with ground walnuts adding a deep and toasted flavor. If you prefer to use Marie biscuits, you can adapt the base using techniques similar to those in a creamy Marie biscuit dessert. The filling is made with creamy cream cheese, sweet condensed milk, and velvety heavy cream, which together form a light and flavorful creaminess. A little unflavored gelatin helps hold the shape without an oven, and vanilla extract enhances the whole combination. To finish, dark chocolate or cocoa powder adds a hint of bitterness that balances the sweetness — for other chocolate variations, check out our easy chocolate mousse — and whole walnuts on top add crunch and beauty.

Ingredients

  • 200 g biscuits (cornstarch, Marie, or your preferred cookie), crushed
  • 100 g unsalted butter, melted
  • 100 g ground walnuts (blend in a food processor)
  • 400 g cream cheese (one large or two small packages), at room temperature
  • 1 can (395 g / 14 oz) condensed milk
  • 200 g heavy cream (one small carton)
  • 1 envelope (12 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 5 tablespoons water to bloom the gelatin + 2 tablespoons hot water to dissolve
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100 g dark chocolate, melted (or 3 to 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, if preferred)
  • 50 g whole or chopped walnuts for decoration
  • A pinch of salt (optional, enhances the flavors)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin: pour the 5 tablespoons of water over the gelatin powder and let it soften for 1 minute. Then heat 2 tablespoons of water (microwave for 10–15 seconds or in a small saucepan) and dissolve the bloomed gelatin until fully liquid. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl (use only this bowl for the entire recipe): combine the crushed biscuits, ground walnuts, and melted butter. Mix well until it resembles moist crumbs.
  3. Press this mixture into the bottom of a 8–9 inch (20–22 cm) pan (preferably with a removable bottom), forming an even base. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes to set while you prepare the filling.
  4. In the same bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and lump-free. Add the condensed milk and heavy cream and mix well until combined.
  5. Add the vanilla extract and pinch of salt. Mix.
  6. Add the dissolved gelatin to the cream and mix quickly and thoroughly to incorporate. This helps the filling set without an oven.
  7. If using melted dark chocolate, add it to the mixture and stir until the cream is evenly chocolatey. If using cocoa powder, sift it in and mix well.
  8. Pour the filling over the set base and smooth the surface with a spatula.
  9. Decorate with whole or chopped walnuts on top. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, until fully set.
  10. To unmold, run a knife around the edge of the pan and carefully lift the removable bottom. Serve chilled.

Storage tip: Keep refrigerated for up to 3–4 days in a sealed container.

Ingredient Highlights

  • Walnuts contain healthy fats (omega-3) and are rich in fiber and minerals.
  • Dark chocolate provides antioxidants and a slightly bitter flavor that balances the dessert.
  • Cream cheese, condensed milk, and heavy cream add creaminess and energy — they are rich in calories and calcium, so best enjoyed in moderate portions.
  • Biscuits and butter form a crunchy and flavorful base that contrasts with the soft filling.

Yield: About 8 to 10 medium portions. Great for parties, gatherings with friends, family lunches, or when you want an elegant dessert without turning on the oven. Also great to bring to celebrations since it can be made the day before. If you prefer a tray version, check out our creamy and budget-friendly tray dessert.
