Ingredients
- 1 can (395 g / 14 oz) condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (approx. 15 g), plus a little extra for greasing
Instructions
- Lightly grease the bottom of a medium saucepan with a little butter.
- Place the condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter in the pan. Stir well off the heat to dissolve the cocoa.
- Bring the pan to low to medium heat. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- Cook for about 8 to 12 minutes, until the mixture thickens and begins to pull away from the bottom of the pan. For a firmer brigadeiro to roll into balls, cook for 12–15 minutes. For a spoonable brigadeiro, remove earlier when still creamy.
- Turn off the heat and transfer to a greased plate. Let cool at room temperature.
- If rolling: once completely cool, grease your hands with butter, roll into balls, and coat in chocolate sprinkles. If serving by the spoon, serve in small cups or bowls once warm or cold.
